Artist's Description
This photo won the Judge's Choice Award in PID Color competition in the Vibrance Exhibition in India. Unlike the Herera natives adopting Victorian clothes, these Nama natives cling to their old traditions, clothing themselves in red resin from a tree for sun protection and using red mud in their hair for cooling from the sun. These natives sold handmade jewelry near the Swakopmund street market, but preferred to be in the shade.
